• For the third-consecutive season and fourth time in program history, STANFORD has claimed the Pac-12 Championship. With one game remaining in the regular season, no other team can catch the Cardinal’s 22 points going into the final weekend with a four-point lead. The regular season concludes on November 11th when No. 8 Stanford faces CALIFORNIA, OREGON STATE meets No. 14 WASHINGTON, and No. 16 SAN DIEGO STATE is at UCLA all to be broadcast on Pac-12 Network.
• The Pac-12 continues to have three teams ranked in the NSCAA top25 poll for the fourth-consecutive week. Stanford sits at No. 8, followed by Washington at No. 14, and San Diego State at No. 16. UCLA also received votes.
• Oregon State’s Jordan Jones was named the Conference’s Player of the Week. The junior forward scored three goals over the weekend, bringing his season total to six, including the game winner against then No. 21 San Diego State on Thursday. His goal secured OSU’s second-consecutive Conference victory, 3-2, and came in at No. 7 on SportsCenter’s Top-10 plays. It is Jones’ first-career nod and Oregon State’s 21st all-time.
• No. 8 Stanford’s Pac-12 title is the first Conference three-peat for the Cardinal since it won four straight University and Club Soccer League championships from 1919-23. The defending national champions will be the league’s automatic qualifier for the NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship, making its 15th overall tournament appearance. The postseason bracket will be revealed on Monday, Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. PT via a selection show on NCAA.com.
• No. 16 San Diego State swept the regular-season series against Washington for the first time in program history after defeating the Huskies by identical 1-0 margins. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Adam Allmaras made four saves Sunday for his 10th clean sheet of the season and 20th of his career. He currently leads the Conference and remains in the top-25 nationally in goals against average (0.664), save percentage (0.846), and total saves (66).
• UCLA snapped a four-game losing skid in a 4-3 victory over Oregon State. Sophomore midfielder Jackson Yueill recorded one goal and two assists in the win and currently ranks in the top-10 nationally in assists per game (0.53) and total assists (9).
• Stanford senior defender Brian Nana-Sinkam was named one of 10 men’s soccer student-athletes selected as finalists for the 2016 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate soccer. Nana-Sinkam helps to organize events between the AYSO VIP (Very Important Players) Green Giants team and the Stanford men’s soccer team. He’s also on the Stanford Athletics Cardinal Council, which brought together 23 Stanford teams for an annual Date Auction, raising over $4,500 for Camp Kesem, which offers recreational camps in the United States for children of parents with cancer. Additionally he is a creative consultant for The Releaf Group, a non-profit organization that connects Nigerian entrepreneurs in the agricultural industry to the United States. Excelling both on and off the field, nominees must be an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner through November 21. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches’ votes to determine the winner that will be announced during the 2016 NCAA Men’s and Women’s College Cup championships in December.
• Seven Pac-12 athletes were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team. The Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The list includes Andrew Epstein of Stanford, Quentin Pearson of Washington, Michael Amick of UCLA, Aravind Sivakumar and Christian Thierjung of California, and Nathan Braaten and Timmy Mueller of Oregon State. All student-athletes now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected early next month
• The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) honored Oregon State and Stanford with the College Team Academic Award for the 2015-16 academic year. 315 men’s teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the recognition. The Beavers recorded a 3.14 GPA and the Cardinal posted a 3.39 GPA, tied for 35th among NCAA men’s soccer programs across all divisions.
