• The race for the Pac-12 title is still on after an overtime victory by No. 11 WASHINGTON over No. 9 STANFORD, 1-0. The Cardinal has the opportunity capture its third-consecutive Conference title this weekend while the Huskies look to keep their title hopes alive with matches against UCLA on Nov. 3 and No. 21 SAN DIEGO STATE for #SundayGoals on the Pac-12 Network. OREGON STATE faces the Aztecs on Thursday Nov. 3 and UCLA on Nov. 6 all to be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
• The Pac-12 continues to have three teams ranked in the NSCAA top-25 poll for the third consecutive week. Stanford sits at No. 9, followed by Washington at No. 11, and San Diego State at No. 21. UCLA also received votes.
• Washington’s Auden Schilder was named the Conference’s Player of the Week. The redshirt junior goalkeeper posted his fourth solo shutout of the season and fifth of his career in the Huskies’ win over Stanford. He combined for 15 saves on the weekend, seven in the 2-1 overtime win at California and eight at Stanford. It is Schilder’s first-career nod and Washington’s 34th all-time.
• The Huskies handed Stanford its first Conference loss of the season and its first at home since 2014 in a 1-0 overtime victory to remain in the title hunt. Freshman Handwalla Bwana posts a top-25 ranking in assists per game (0.47).
• Stanford is still in contention to become the second men’s soccer program to win at least three consecutive Conference titles. UCLA took the Conference tile for four straight seasons from 2002-05. During its bye week, a Washington loss in either of its two games this week could also determine the Cardinal as the Conference champion.
• Stanford juniors Foster Langsdorf and Corey Baird combined for three goals and two assists in the Cardinal’s 3-0 win over Oregon State. The forwards have combined for five goals, seven assists and 17 of Stanford’s 40 points in the last five games. Langsdorf currently leads in the Conference with 11 goals and it is the first time since 2000-01 that Stanford has had student-athletes post more than 10 goals in back-to-back seasons. Current MLS player Jordan Morris led Stanford with 13 scores a season ago.
• UCLA captured a non-conference win, 3-1, over Coastal Carolina. The Bruins currently lead the Conference in assists per game (1.80) and points per game (5.40). Sophomore midfielder Jackson Yueill is ranked in the top-25 nationally in assists per game (0.53) and total assists (8).
• Seven Pac-12 athletes were selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Team. The Academic All-District Men’s Soccer Teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The list includes Andrew Epstein of Stanford, Quentin Pearson of Washington, Michael Amick of UCLA, Aravind Sivakumar and Christian Thierjung of California, and Nathan Braaten and Timmy Mueller of Oregon State. All student-athletes now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected early next month.
• Michael Amick of UCLA and Brian Nada-Sinkam of Stanford have been nominated for the senior CLASS award along with 28 other men’s soccer student-athletes. Excelling both on and off the field, nominees must be an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. Amick is a biochemistry major at UCLA with plans to become a doctor. Stanford’s NadaSinkam is a creative consultant for The Releaf Group, a nonprofit organization that connects Nigerian entrepreneurs in the agricultural industry to the United States.
• The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) honored Oregon State and Stanford with the College Team Academic Award for the 201516 academic year. 315 men’s teams posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher to earn the recognition. The Beavers recorded a 3.14 GPA and the Cardinal posted a 3.39 GPA, tied for 35th among NCAA men’s soccer programs across all divisions.
• 2015 Pac12 Freshman of the Year Jose Hernandez of UCLA is among the 14 players with All-Conference honors returning to Pac-12 rosters this season. That list includes first-team members, UCLA’s Seyi Adekoya and Abu Danladi, Nick Lima and Christian Thierjung of California, and Timmy Mueller of Oregon State competing this season.
• Twenty-eight players from NCAA Division I schools around the country have been marked as potential contenders for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer, presented annually to one male and one female athlete. Stanford’s Jordan Morris took home the honor last season. This year, the Pac-12 has two representatives on the list: UCLA’s Jose Hernandez and Abu Danladi.
• The countdown of Pac-12 Networks’ 850 live event telecasts began on the pitch with a 36-game men’s soccer schedule. Each Pac-12 team appears on the Network at least 10 times (home or away) in 2016.
