• Conference play continues as a top-20 matchup highlights the week when No. 19 UCLA meets No. 13 SAN DIEGO STATE on Saturday, Oct. 8. The week kicks off with STANFORD at No. 16 WASHINGTON for a Pac-12 Network televised game and CALIFORNIA at OREGON STATE on Thursday Oct. 6. The week wraps up with the Cardinal traveling to OSU on Sunday, Oct. 9 and the Bears are at No. 16 Washington for #SundayGoals on the Pac-12 Network.
• The Pac-12 continues to have three teams ranked in the NSCAA top-25 this week. San Diego State sits at No. 13, followed by Washington at No. 16, and UCLA is at No. 19. Stanford also received votes.
• San Diego State’s Travis Nicklaw was named the Conference’s Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week. The redshirt senior forward scored the golden goal against No. 16 Washington on Sunday to defeat the Huskies, 1-0, for first time since 2010. His goal was the third game winner of the season and second of the week helping SDSU to a 1-0-1 Conference record. It was Nicklaw’s second-career nod, SDSU’s fourth this season, and the first consecutive player of the week award since Stanford’s Corey Baird in 2014.
• SDSU has allowed just four goals in 10 games this year, tying the program record for fewest goals allowed through 10 games of a season putting it second in the nation in shutout percentage (0.70) and goals against average (0.37). The Aztecs’ redshirt junior goalkeeper Adam Allmaras remains in the top three nationally in save percentage (.911) and goals against average (.373) after making six saves Sunday to complete his seventh clean sheet of the season and 17th of his career.
• No. 16 Washington opened Conference play with a 4-0 win over No. 19 UCLA Thursday, the team’s first win over the Bruins since 2012. The Huskies lead the Conference in total goals (19) and total points (53).
• No. 19 UCLA’s 2-0 victory against Oregon State snapped a two-game losing skid. Sophomore midfielder Jackson Yueill remains in the top-10 nationally in assists per game (0.67) and total assists (6).
• Stanford won its third-consecutive Pac-12 opener, 1-0, over rival Cal. Junior forward Foster Langsdorf netted the game-winning goal and scored for the sixth time in his last five games. He ranks in the top-25 nationally in goals per game (0.78), points per game (1.67) and total points (15).
• California’s Christian Thierjung continues to post top-15 national rankings in goals per game (1.00), points per game (2.00), shots on goal per game (2.00), and total goals (8). The Bears rank in the top-20 nationally in assists per game (2.25), points per game (6.25), and scoring offense (2.00).
• 2015 Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Jose Hernandez of UCLA is among the 14 players with All-Conference honors returning to Pac-12 rosters this season. That list includes first-team members, UCLA’s Seyi Adekoya and Abu Danladi, Nick Lima and Christian Thierjung of California, and Timmy Mueller of Oregon State competing this season.
• Twenty-eight players from NCAA Division I schools around the country have been marked as potential contenders for the 2016 Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer, presented annually to one male and one female athlete. Stanford’s Jordan Morris took home the honor last season. This year, the Pac-12 has two representatives on the list: UCLA’s Jose Hernandez and Abu Danladi.
• The countdown of Pac12 Networks’ 850 live event telecasts began on the pitch with a 36-game men’s soccer schedule. Each Pac-12 team appears on the Network at least 10 times (home or away) in 2016.
