McIllese Sports isn’t the biggest name in the world of college football predictions, but over the last few years, few have been more accurate. McIllese, which bases its rankings on 70,000 full season simulations, finished second in each of the last two years of the Stassen Poll, which ranks 22 separate publications’ preseason predictions based on accuracy.
If McIllece Sports has another great year, it will have earned it, because its 2016 predictions are very bold. The No. 1 team in its Top 25? The Tennessee Volunteers.

The model does not predict post-season play, so based on the finish, we’re looking at an Alabama-Tennessee rematch in the SEC Championship, likely for a College Football Playoff No. 1 seed. The rest of the field would be Washington, which many are very high on as a breakout program this year, Ohio State, and Oklahoma, assuming no conferences land multiple playoff spots. That would certainly make for an interesting four-team field.
